Heavy Equipment mechanic

We are seeking a diligent Heavy Equipment Mechanic.  Successful applicants must be self-motivated, possess a strong safety minded attitude and be a good team player.  Regular job duties include the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of heavy equipment. You will be responsible for service documentation, ordering parts as necessary, maintaining assigned shop equipment, and assisting field technicians with equipment maintenance.

​Heavy Equipment Mechanic Responsibilities include:

  • Daily maintenance of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, front end loaders, articulated haul trucks, and water trucks. 

  • Daily maintenance of tractor trucks, Redi-Mix concrete trucks, and other miscellaneous equipment

  • Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of the plant, quarry and various aggregate sources, and associated equipment as directed

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

 

Preferred Candidates will possess the following attributes:

 

  • Previous experience in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment

  • Experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar position

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude

  • Knowledge of surface mining and sand production, practices and applications

  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices

  • Strong leadership abilities

  • Good time management and problem-solving skills.

  • A great understanding of work optimization techniques.

  • Good knowledge of the applicable safety regulations and procedures.

  • Valid driver’s license is required

  • Ability to pass pre-employment process, including drug screen.

 

 Working Conditions:

 

  • This is a normal, full-time daytime shift job; however the willingness and ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, early mornings, overtime, and some out-of-town work is recommended.

  • Work outdoors with exposure to heat and cold and other outdoor environmental conditions

  • Operate equipment, tools, and controls, performing repetitive movements with hands, wrists and feet

  • Frequent reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and heavy lifting
